Errors can be detected in the grading process. We have listed standard adjustments we have discovered and how you can fix them.

Click on the white triangle in front of the header for more information.

Override automatically calculated marks

If you notice afterwards that a grade/mark in an automatically marked question is incorrect, you can change it manually. Read more about at the 3.2 How to mark page under the heading "Automatically marked questions!.

Remove a question from marking

Question weights

Afterwards, if you notice a question is incorrect or irrelevant, you can remove it from marking. Then, you need to re-weight the grade. To do this, you first need to calculate the grades.

Screenshot about calculating grades.

In the workspace "Results", choose "Options".
In the Options menu, choose "Question weight".
Once the grades are calculated, select "Update now" at the blue bottom.

To move on, select the "Question weights" under the "Options" menu:

In the column "Overridden weight," change the value to 0 % for the question you want to ignore to remove it from marking.

Click "Update" when you are satisfied with your changes:

You will be automatically removed to the Threshold values" tab:

Threshold values

Once you re-weight the grade, you can change the threshold value.

For example, for a 50-point exam, students need 25 points for G (50%) and 37 points for VG (75%). If you remove a 2-point question from an exam, the threshold value changes to 48 points, 24 points for G, and 36 points for VG.

Reusable criteria

Reusable criteria allow planners and graders to define additional criteria on a question after completing the exam. Read more at the 3.3.3 Feedback to the students page under heading "Reusable criteria".

Explanation of grades

For the Examiner

It's essential to provide an explanation when the grade given doesn't reflect the marks. For example, if a student needs to pass both parts of an exam and earns 15 out of 50 marks in part 1 and 49 out of 50 in part 2, they might still receive a Pass for the entire exam.

The explanation can only be sent once. Neither you nor your co-graders can change the explanation afterwards.

You can even record your explanation.
You can attach files to your explanation.
You can even insert your private notes into your explanation. Read more about that further down on this page.
Remember to save your explanation. The explanation will be sent to the students after their final grade.

For the Co-graders

It's possible to insert your private notes as feedback to the student. You can read more about how to write private notes here: 3.3 Notes and annotations.

Your private notes appear as a list in the same view, and you can write your explanation manually.

Send all Explanations

You also have the option to publish all explanations at once. However, sending explanations is only possible after the marking is confirmed and the explanation has been saved.

When you have chosen to send the explanations, you will receive the following notice:

To consider: if you have several graders/markers in an examination, you can edit the explanations. Therefore, it is possible to delete each other's explanations.

After the explanation has been sent to the student, you will get a confirmation notice from Inspera Assessment in your mailbox: Skärmdump om e-postmeddelande du får efter att du har skickat motiveringen till studenten.
